about

My work explores the messiness of life, often painted in acrylics with dark, muted tones that mirror the complexity of our unique yet often collective experiences.

Alisa Lehtinen

studio marjaana

Hi, I’m Alisa – a self-taught, acrylic painter from Finland, now living in Bristol, UK. My work balances realism, abstraction, and minimalism, with the focus on the moments in between. With a background in the makeup industry, I draw inspiration from its materials and processes such as layering, blending.

Painting feels natural to me, the most honest way to express and connect. Through still life, the female form, and makeup-inspired subjects, I explore themes of softness, identity, and presence.

studio marjaana (pronounced mar-yaa-na) is based on my third name – an old Finnish one I used to avoid, but now love.
