marjaana

I'm Alisa – a Finnish-born, Bristol-based emerging artist.

Through painting, I explore the moments that sit between. Think of it as a study of tension – between softness and sharpness, comfort and discomfort.

studio marjaana is not just a name I chose for my practice – it’s a nod to my roots. studio marjaana comes from my third name (one I once couldn’t stand). It’s Finnish, feels like home and I’ve had a complicated relationship with it.

My work explores the messiness of life, often painted in acrylics with dark, muted tones that mirror the complexity of our unique yet often collective experiences.
